Superintendent’s Message: Dear
Parents, Students, Employees, and Community Members: Welcome to the 2000-2001
school year! I hope that you will
find this first edition of the Appoquinimink Calendar/Handbook to be a useful
tool in helping you to prepare for the upcoming school year. The calendar/handbook was developed
because of our strong belief that well informed, involved citizens are
essential to the success of any school district. Not only do we want you to be informed of events that are occurring
in our schools, but we want you to have the opportunity to participate in
these events. For schools to operate
successfully, educators, students, and parents must all share a common vision
based on the desire for student success.
Effective communication and parental involvement are the first large
steps towards accomplishing that vision. Please take the time to read
the contents of this publication very carefully. Your signature on the back page will help us to know how
effectively the calendar/handbook was distributed. If you have any questions or comments about any of the contents
of the document, please do not hesitate to contact my office. Our goal is to make this publication an
annual event and to improve upon it every year, and your input would be
